Forms FAQs

I Didn’t Receive the Email with the Download Key and URL. What Do I Do?

First, refresh your email inbox to make sure that you have all of your new email. Then, check your spam filter or junk email folder for our email. The subject of the email is Your Forms From Equine Legal Solutions. If you still don't see it, please contact us using our Technical Support Form. If your email program has a “safe sender” feature, make sure to add info@equinelegalsolutions.com  and techsupport@equinelegalsolutions.com to your safe senders. Did you pay using an eCheck? If so, you will not receive your download key until Paypal has cleared your eCheck.

Whoops!  I Paid with an eCheck, But I Need My Form NOW!  What Can I Do?

You can simply call us toll-free at 866-385-2972 or contact Technical Support and request that we cancel the eCheck transaction.  You can then order the same form with a credit card via phone or our website.

What Form Should I Use?

Review our forms descriptions and What Our Forms Include to determine what form is right for you.  Still not sure?  We want to make sure you use the correct form, so please ask us.

What If I Don’t See the Form I Need?

If you don’t see the form you need in our selection of forms, please ask us about developing a customized contract to meet your individual needs.  Have a great idea for a new form?  See Get Free Forms.

What Format Will the Forms Be In?

When you purchase our forms, we will send you an email link to a downloadable PDF.  You will need Adobe Acrobat
*, a free software program, installed on your computer to use our forms.Get Adobe Reader

Do You Have Copies of the Forms that I Can See Before I Purchase Them?

No. We don't post copies of the forms on our website because that would make it easy for website visitors to simply copy the forms from our website without purchasing them. Instead, we have listed a full description of the clauses contained in our forms on the What's In Our Forms page.

Why Can’t I Edit the Forms Myself?

At Equine Legal Solutions, we see firsthand the disastrous results of non-lawyers trying to create or edit their own contracts.  When designing our forms, we try very hard to include options that allow our customers to tailor the forms to their individual needs.  However, you may have a transaction or situation that is relatively unique, and therefore, our forms may not meet your needs exactly as written. For those customers, we are always happy to credit your forms purchase price toward a customized agreement.  See Our Forms Guarantee for details.  Please note that our forms are copyrighted, which means that you cannot retype them and then make changes to them without our permission.

Why Aren’t the Forms in Microsoft Word*?

At Equine Legal Solutions, we have observed that in situations where contracts are used, problems arise when non-lawyers edit the contracts.  By delivering our forms in a PDF, we are trying to help ensure that you will seek professional assistance before editing our forms.

Will Your Forms Work in My State?

Our current forms are designed to work in all 50 states, which means that they are not customized to your state in particular.  If your state has an equine activity statute, for example, you would want to attach a sheet to our form containing any language that your state's statute might require (in addition to posting any signs that your state's statute requires).  Otherwise, you will be able to specify in our form that your state's law will apply to any disputes, and that any disputes must be litigated in your home county and state.

Can I Print Your Forms on My Letterhead?

Yes, as long as you retain our copyright notice on each page of the form (the copyright notice is in the left-hand margin of each page of the form).

How Can I Make Copies of Your Forms?

Many of our forms customers find that it is simplest to print out one copy of the form and fill in the information that applies to every transaction (such as your name and address), and then make copies of the filled-in form for use as needed.

How Many Times Can I Use the Forms?

Once you have purchased a form, you may use it as many times as you like for your own personal and business use.  Our forms are copyrighted, however, and therefore you cannot provide them to others.

Can I Post Your Forms on My Website?

No.  While you may use our forms as often as you would like for your own business and personal use, you may not distribute our forms.  If you typically post your contracts on your website, you can simply send your contracts to your customers by email instead.  This practice helps ensure that only your customers have access to your contracts, and not your business competitors or the general public.

Are Your Forms Up to Date?

We are continually updating our forms and your forms purchase includes Free Updates

Why Are Your Forms More Expensive than some other Forms I Found on the Internet?

Simply put, you get what you pay for.  See Equine Contracts – The Equine Legal Solutions Difference to help you make a comparison.

Why Aren’t the Forms Free?

On the Equine Legal Solutions website, we offer a lot of free information, including our comprehensive
Horse Buying Checklist and The Legal Equine, our free email newsletter, so why aren’t our forms free, too?  The simple answer is that offering free information is expensive – site design, web hosting, maintaining an email database and developing new content all take time, effort and money.  With your forms purchases, you help ensure the continuing availability of our free resources.

Can I Pay With a Check?

PayPal has a service called eCheck which will allow you to pay by check. Please note, if purchase our forms through PayPal using a eCheck rather than a credit card, the email from us with the link to the forms and the transaction will not be complete until your check clears. Please allow 3 to 4 days for your email to appear from us with the link to your form.
If you would like to pay with a traditional paper check, please contact us and we would be happy to take your order.

I Don’t Feel Comfortable Using My Credit Card on the Internet.  Can I Order a Form By Phone Instead?

Sure!  We are always happy to take telephone orders – just contact us

If I Buy a Form, Can I Share it With My Friends?

No.
All of our forms are copyrighted, and you cannot sell or otherwise distribute our forms except for your personal and business use.

If I Buy a Form, Can I Use It For More Than One Transaction?

Yes.  For example, if you purchase the Simple Sale Agreement, you can use that form for as many horse sales as you like.

I Live Outside the U.S. – Can I Use the Forms?

No. Because we developed these forms specifically for U.S. residents, the forms may not be enforceable outside the U.S.

What If I Need Help Using the Forms?

All of our forms include comprehensive, step-by-step instructions to help ensure that you understand the forms and fill them out completely and accurately.
If you need further assistance, please contact us and an attorney will answer your questions as promptly as possible at no charge.

What If I Don’t Have a PayPal* Account?

You can enroll in PayPal on the PayPal website, or you can contact us to place an order by telephone.

Can’t You Make These Forms Shorter?

We strive to make our forms as complete and comprehensive as possible to cover every contingency.  To help the average reader use and understand our forms, we avoid “legalese” and “boilerplate” clauses and try to write our forms in plain English.  Sometimes, that means that our forms are a bit longer than average.

Do I Really Need All the Stuff in These Forms?

We have developed our forms as a result of years of practice in equine law.  We have seen firsthand what can go wrong, and we want to help you avoid it.  Every clause in these forms is included for a good reason.

What If I Buy Your Forms and am Dissatisfied?

We stand behind our forms – see Our Forms Guarantee.

What If I Still Have a Question about Your Forms?

Please contact us and an attorney will answer your questions as promptly as possible at no charge.
